Preaching and Teaching Pastor

We are sending our preaching minister, Jason Carr, and his family to the mission field!  In the summer of 2017, the Carrs will arrive in Papua New Guinea to serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators.  We are sad to see them go but also excited to see what God is doing in and through their family.

As they prepare to leave we are also preparing to bring in a new family to preach the Word and share life with us.  Change and transition is always difficult but we are confident that God is already preparing a family for this ministry.

Please keep us in prayer as we are praying for each interested family!

Student Ministries

John & Kimberly Kelley

John and Kimberly Kelley have a combined 12 years of student ministries experience and countless years of volunteer work such as mentoring and counseling students on fields and campuses.  God has gifted them both with a passion for sharing the gospel and for teaching truth from the word of God in a way that reaches our current culture. The Kelleys are open at all times to pray with families, get to know your needs and do what we can to come along side parents and young people to help lead them to build strong lasting relationships with Jesus Christ.

"We are excited and blessed to be leading and serving the young people of Community Christian Church.  Thank you for the opportunity to love on your family!!"  John Kelley

I grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, and became a Christian and was baptized in sixth grade. I got serious about following Christ in college, and joined Community Christian Church in 1976, soon after we moved to Twin Falls.

My wife Patty and I have been married for 41 years; we have three grown children, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.

After graduating High School in 1970, I attended the University of Idaho, eventually earning a music education degree and then a masters degree in music theory and composition. I have taught music to kids in Twin Falls public schools for 39 years. I’m also involved with several adult community musical organizations.

At church I help with music, teaching, and ministry committees. I love teaching people of all ages, partly because I always learn more than my students, and also because working with people enrichs my life greatly. I am a member of Gideons International and support their mission of placing Scripture around the world, leading people to Christ.

I love all musical activities, water sports, and gardening. I also love reading and learning, and try to stay current with what Christ is doing in His body around the world. I try to read the Bible daily and to pray always. Apologetics and the intersection of science and ideas about God are favorite areas of study.

One of my favorite Bible passages, and one that I am spending my life trying to live up to, is Romans 12, which starts: Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

I am a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. My wife, Janice, and I met and married in 1953 while I was serving in the U.S. Navy. We moved to Idaho in the fall of 1972 and love the changing seasons that Idaho offers. We have 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several foster children in our lives. I rededicated my life to Christ and joined the Community Christian Church in 2001, and I enjoy teaching young adult men’s classes. I have served on the financial team for the past 5 years, and as an Elder for 3 ½ years.

Idaho has some awesome fishing, and since I am partially retired, I go as time allows.

My current favorite verse is 1 John 1:7, “but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His son cleanses us from all sin”.
